Your logo is important to your brand, and you can’t let just anyone design it. In many ways, this will be the face of your company, so it needs to have an impact on whoever sees it. Today we’ll speak about a checklist to go through before hiring a logo designer.
My company has been designing logos for ten years, and they always come as a result of a strategic branding process. A logo doesn’t come out of nowhere, it takes a lot of understanding and research to form a good logo.
You want your designer to have a clear picture of what kind of business you are. Check their references and look at the types of designs that they have made in the past.
Also, don’t let them use any sort of clip art. They need to be creating these designs from scratch, just like how you created your business. When the design is finally done, make an agreement so that you can access the design files. When you want to put your logo on a billboard you’ll need those files, so don’t allow the designer to keep them because that’s your company’s image. We also recommend copyrighting your logo.
The bottom line here is that you get what you pay for. A $60 logo will be a $60 logo. We put a lot of thought behind the designs that we create. A logo should be the end product of a long branding process, and that’s how we create them for maximum impact.
